Storyboard a video project...
Hello!!! Did you miss me?
My mates and I decided to create a video about the recognition of women's work to dedicate some time in class to talk about this topic.
How can we use these videos for educational purposes? It's very easy because with these tools you can engage students in the topic you want. Your students can feel more attracted to the lesson if you introduce the topic with an original video! Also, one important thing about this is that students will be able to watch the video at all times they need, so that, the information will be always available.
The story is the following:
First, we decided to create a Storyboard of our video. Why? Because with this website you can create a plain comic so that we have to create a general idea and do not focus on too many details firstly. Apart from that, our students can have an initial idea about what your video is going to be afterward. In each slide, the students will read a brief resume of how is going to the story about, promoting their imagination about the digital representation of the scenes!
During the creation of the Storyboard, my mates and I decided what to add in each scene so that it makes sense. It is necessary that the story has an educational purpose so that the students learn something from this video. In particular, our Storyboard talks about some of the most INFLUENTIAL women of history, such as:
- Alfonsina Strada
- Alice Guy
- Valentina Tereshkova
- Dorothy Crowfoot Hodkin
Why we decided to talk about this? Because there are many women who have made important discoveries and have not received the recognition they should; forgotten, ignored, limited, or taken as secondary characters in a men's book. They need the recognition they deserve so that with their own voice and identity, their names and achievements remain valid and are references for future generations.
It is true that nowadays this genre imbalance has gradually disappeared, but some women still do not receive the recognition they should, so we must still continue fighting to achieve this absolute equality between both sexes. Maybe this topic is not as embedded as we think, that is why we need to continue working on the recognition we merit!
This topic is useful to talk about it on Women's Day for example, or even to use it as an extracurricular topic to practice in class with short talks with the students.
I will attach the story so that you can also have an idea about what the video is going to be...
